An elegant and architecturally refined pair of Italian Mid-Century bedside tables, by Vittorio Dassi and manufactured in Italy during the late 1950s. These bedside tables perfectly embody the sophisticated design vocabulary associated with Dassi’s finest production, where sculptural forms, exceptional cabinetmaking, and balanced proportions merge into a timeless aesthetic.

The design is distinguished by the characteristic angular profile of the side supports, elegantly tapered legs, and the distinctive floating cabinet suspended beneath the top. The drawer fronts are framed by finely executed grissinatura detailing, one of the decorative signatures frequently found in high-end Italian furniture of the period and closely associated with Dassi’s workshop. Their sculptural recessed pulls integrate seamlessly into the overall composition, emphasizing the clean architectural geometry of the design.

The cabinets are veneered in richly figured walnut, whose warm grain contrasts beautifully with the darker carved details surrounding the drawer fronts, creating depth and visual rhythm while highlighting the exceptional quality of the craftsmanship.

As with many of the finest Italian pieces from this period, the elegance lies in the careful balance between decorative refinement and structural purity. Every element—from the softly rounded upper edges to the sculptural legs—has been conceived to create a sense of lightness while maintaining remarkable solidity.

Both bedside tables have undergone a complete professional restoration. The wooden structure has been carefully refinished and hand-polished, preserving the original craftsmanship while restoring the depth and richness of the walnut veneer.

The original glass tops have been replaced with new back-painted tempered glass in a vibrant acid yellow finish, intentionally chosen to introduce a fresh contemporary interpretation without altering the integrity of the original design. The luminous yellow surface creates a sophisticated dialogue with the warm walnut, bringing new energy and personality to the pieces while remaining entirely respectful of their Mid-Century architectural language. This intervention reflects the philosophy of presenting iconic Italian furniture in a way that allows it to integrate effortlessly into contemporary interiors.

Elegant, sculptural, and unmistakably Italian, this pair represents a highly decorative and increasingly rare example of Mid-Century craftsmanship, equally suited to refined residential interiors and important design collections.
